Employment
Darrin Johnson serves as the City of Nampa Parks and Recreation Director and began his employment with the City of Nampa in 1994. Darrin directs the operations of the Parks and Cemetery Division, Recreation Center, Ridgecrest and Centennial Golf Courses and the Recreation Division.
Before being named the Parks and Recreation Director, Darrin led the Nampa Recreation Center Division for more than 10 years for the City of Nampa. Prior to his employment with the City of Nampa, Darrin worked as a Recreation Supervisor for the Round Lake Area Park District in Round Lake, Illinois and as Recreation Specialist for the Waukegan Park District located in Waukegan, Illinois.
Education & Certification
Darrin earned his Master of Business Administration (MBA) Degree from Northwest Nazarene University and his Bachelors Degree from Idaho State University. Darrin is a Certified Parks and Recreation Executive (CPRE) and is a member of both the National Recreation & Parks Association and the Idaho Parks & Recreation Association.
Nampa Parks & Recreation
Nampa Parks and Recreation adds value to the community while promoting conservation of open space, health and wellness in the community, and community recreation and education. The Department strives to help provide amenities that make our city attractive to new business as well as provide activities that will encourage those from out of town to play in Nampa. Nampa Parks and Recreation emphasizes the need to offer recreation programs and opportunities that meet the needs of all age groups and skill levels.
The goal of the department is to enhance the quality of life for all Nampa citizens. The Nampa Parks and Recreation Department strives to acquire additional park land to meet the park space demands for a growing city. Quality recreation programs are created that ensure the maximum opportunity for participation while the importance of winning is kept in perspective.
