StoryWalk® in Lakeview Park

The City of Nampa has recently installed a StoryWalk® located in Lakeview Park.  The StoryWalk® is an activity that encourages children and their families to read while being engaged with physical activity. The StoryWalk® offers reading stations strategically placed along a walking path that is approximately one-half mile in length. “Children can spend a large amount of time doing sedentary activities and it is important to find ways to engage children with learning opportunities that include physical activity.  In addition to physical activity, the project gives us an opportunity to send out a positive message concerning the importance of kindness in our community”, said Mayor Debbie Kling.

The StoryWalk® project is managed by the Nampa Parks and Recreation Department and the Nampa Library. Reading material will be exchanged periodically to provide a variety of reading opportunities for the young children in our community.

The StoryWalk® is located in Lakeview Park at 1304 7th St. N. Nampa, Idaho 83651.  Parking is available in the swimming pool parking lot.  Funding for the Story Trail project came from a grant received from Saint Luke’s Children’s Healthy Lifestyle Grant and the Mayor’s walking Challenge.
