Weight Room

weight room equipmentThe Harward Recreation Center Weight Room features many pieces of equipment as well as traditional free weights and functional training options. Train all muscle groups using our Cybex, Hammer Strength, Precor, Life Fitness, Tuff Stuff and Nautilus brand equipment. Also on site are:

  • Assisted Pull-Up/Dip Machine
  • Assortment of Dumbbells and Kettlebells
  • Battling Ropes
  • Cable Crossover Unit
  • Heavy Tire
  • TRX
  • Two Lifting Cages
  • Smith Machine
  • Free Motion Dual Cable Cross
  • Foam Rollers

Dumbbells range from 5 pounds to 130 pounds in 2.5 to 5 pound increments.

Training Staff

Our Fitness Trainers are experienced, certified, and/or degreed. If you need help with an exercise program or would like more information using a piece of equipment, contact our staff.

Weight Room Special Assistancenampa rec center weights

Our Fitness Trainers are available for members needing special assistance due to physical limitations. To request assistance, stop by or call the weight room at 208-468-5884.

Weight Room Age Policy

The Harward Recreation Center (HRC) age policy for Weight Room use is 15 years and older. Youth ages 13 and 14 years old may gain Weight Room privileges by completing the HRC's Youth Strength Training Course taught by a certified trainer.

The Zone 

The ZONE is a full body workout featuring 9 pieces of Hoist strength training equipment specially engineered for youth ages 10 to 14.  Youth are required to complete an orientation prior to use.   Stop by the Weight Room for questions or to schedule an orientation. Youth Functional Training 

Improve strength, endurance, balance, coordination and flexibility with real-life movements and age-appropriate exercises. Equipment could include, battle ropes, medicine balls, glides, stability balls, tire and TRX etc. Orientation is required prior to use, and for youth ages 6-9 a parent must be present during the orientation and for all workouts.   View the Health History Questionnaire(PDF) and Youth Pledge Forms (PDF)

Dress Etiquette

Wear appropriate workout attire while in the Weight Room. Fully enclosed shoes and shirt required. Athletic shoes preferred. No sandals or bathing suits will be permitted.  Clothing that is modest and allows for evaporative cooling is required.
