Darrin Johnson - Parks and Recreation Director

Darrin Johnson serves as the City of Nampa Parks and Recreation Director and began his employment with the City of Nampa in 1994. Before being named the Parks and Recreation Director, Darrin led the Nampa Recreation Center Division for more than 10 years. Prior to his employment with the City of Nampa, Darrin worked as a Recreation Supervisor for the Round Lake Area Park District in Round Lake, Illinois and as Recreation Specialist for the Waukegan Park District located in Waukegan, Illinois. Darrin earned his Master of Business Administration (MBA) Degree form Northwest Nazarene University. He earned his B.S. Degree in Secondary Education from Idaho State University with a teaching emphasis in Health and Physical Education. Darrin is a member of both the National Recreation & Parks Association and the Idaho Parks & Recreation Association. Darrin values the support received from the local community and city leaders. With this, the department can provide the community with a magnificent recreation center, a diverse park system and comprehensive recreational offerings. Darrin emphasizes the need to offer recreation programs and opportunities that meet the needs of all age groups and skill levels. The goal of the department is to enhance the quality of life for all Nampa citizens. Great importance is placed on growing the city’s pedestrian pathways that will connect the entire community. The Nampa Parks and Recreation Department strives to acquire additional park land to meet the park space demands for a growing city. Quality recreation programs are created that ensure the maximum opportunity for participation while the importance of winning is kept in perspective.
