Balance and Fall Prevention Class

This class will help increase mobility and independence by improving lower body strength, endurance, flexibility and , bone mass, which can help reduce the risk of falling. Mondays & Wednesdays, 9:00-9:45am. Studio 4. Member: Free, Non-Member: $30 Register at the Program Desk.

Strength Training for Women

This 6 week course involves a variety of equipment but emphasizes the use of free weights. The course will cover safe and effective training, the five fitness components and their benefits, weight room etiquette and jargon, training techniques and practical experience. October 12 - November 18 Tuesdays and Thursdays. 9:00-10:00am. Weight Room. Member $28, Non-Member $64. Register at the Program Desk.

Triathlon Training Program

This program will prepare athletes for the triathlon season, specifically the NRC Indoor Triathlon on February 5th. Whether you're looking to fully submerge yourself into triathlons, or if you're more interested in simply testing the waters, this program is for you. Participants will have the oppurtunity to meet once a week with coaches to discuss how their training is going. There will also be guest speakers, clinics, and seminars throughtout the 10 week program. Includes 10 weeks training and race registration. Tuesdays 6-7pm November 30-February 2

Walking Club

Sponsored by Embroidered Images, www.embimages.com. Earn a free t-shirt from Embroidered Images by walking around the Nampa Recreation Center Track. Sign up at the Weight Room Desk and chart your progress each day on the log sheet provided.

Weight Room Special Assistance

The Fitness Training staff will be available to assist any passholder needing special assistance due to physical limitations. Help is available on Thursdays from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. If you are interested, stop by the Weight Room or call 468-5884.

Beginning Chi Walking/Running

If you are interested in beginning to walk or run for fitness or if you have been injured and want to learn techniques geared toward injury prevention and energy efficiency, this is the class for you. Learn correct posture and allignment and proper running/walking form to take advantage of gravity allowing you to maximize efficiency and prevent injury. This class is appropriate for any level of fitness or any age range 18-80+. Wednesdays September 8-29.

Kettlebell Classes

Kettlebells provide an efficient, functional and dynamic whole body workout. Research indicates that kettlebell workouts result in a high caloric burn and will positively impact strength, flexibility and cardiovascular endurance. Small group kettlebell classes and skill sessions are on-going and require pre-registration at the Trainers Desk no earlier than 2 days prior to the class. Tuesdays 6-7pm and Thursdays 9-10am. Members are free non-members are $10.
