Traditions Tang Soo Do

Tang Soo Do is a Korean based style of martial arts. Learn self confidence, build self-esteem and improve balance while establishing discipline and courtesy towards others. The positive, fun-filled classes are designed for adults to build endurance and reduce stress. Traditions Tang Soo Do teaches the correct way to punch, kick and strike while providing age appropriate self-defense and weapons training. The instructors are focused on making sure you understand when self-defense should be used and teaching the skills required to defend yourself. Class size is limited so be sure to register early. White Crane Tai Chi

Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese martial art that helps relax the body after a long and hectic day. The long, slow movements stretch and strengthen the body while helping to quiet and refocus the spirit. This class can be used as a form of relaxation or recovery from injury or illness. Beginning students should wear loose fitting clothing such as sweat pants and a t-shirt and are encouraged to bring a water bottle to class. The beginning class teaches the basics of Tai Chi including basic movements, breathing, meditation, the warm-up form and introduces the Yang Style Short form. The intermediate class continues with movements, breathing, meditation, the Yang Short form, and adds Yang Long form and an introduction to push hands (Tai Chi sparring). Classes are held Tuesday nights at 6:30 pm for beginners and at 7:30 pm for intermediates. For more information contact the Nampa Recreation Program Desk at 468-5858.

White Crane Women's Self-Defense & Fitness

White Crane Women's Self-Defense and Fitness class is designed for women regardless of age, size and athletic ability. This class teaches you to protect yourself in a situation that needs self-defense. Topics covered during this class include situational awareness, releases, proper falling and recovery techniques, effective punches, strikes, and kicks, improved fitness and basic martial arts etiquette. Beginning students should wear loose fitting clothing such as sweat pants and a tshirt. No jewelry or watches should be worn during class time.
